Respect the Locals

This piece touches on the gentrification that is occurring in the downtown Oxnard area. The buildings represented are historical to the downtown area and are being threaten by city officials and their plans to change the area. Locals are struggling to keep businesses open and be able to live in the area, due to the gentrification that is effecting their ability to stay in their rightful homes. Therefore, I created this piece to symbolize the culture and the heart of the locals. The colors are derived from the original Oxnard city logo, and the pattern is an aerial view of the downtown Oxnard area.
